For over 30 years, Henry has been searching for the son that he believes was stolen from him at
birth and it has taken its toll on him in many ways. Whilst stationed at the American Airbase in Spain
during the early 70's he fell in love with his wife Maria. Little did they know that they would be
affected by one of Spain's best kept secrets, the stolen babies scandal, also known as "Los Niños
Robados" or "The Lost Children of Francoism". Their newborn child was proclaimed dead after only a
few hours of his birth. A cover up by the clinic and church to allow for the boy to be sold to a more
"suitable" family.
As the years went by, the truth of the story started to unravel and Henry was on a mission to
uncover what really happened. He eventually finds evidence that leads him to Javier, who he
believes is his son. Javier had always known he was adopted, but it wasn't until later in life that he
discovered that he was actually stolen from his true parents. After much searching of his own he
found and formed a strong bond with what he believed to be his true family in Sevilla, Spain;
however, his hopes were shattered when the DNA tests revealed that he was not the family’s stolen
son. Burdened by the painful dead end, Javier moved on and started a new life for himself, forming a
family of his own with his new wife in London.
When we meet Henry he has made his way to London to try and find Javier. The persistence of this
"stranger" is off-putting to Javier and his wife, who simply want to be left alone. In their first
encounter, Javier is focused on getting Henry to stop pestering him. Henry seizes the chance to
explain who he really is and looks to back it up with all of the evidence he has gathered during his
search. He claims to be Javier's true father, forcing him to decide whether it is worth it to reopen a
painful chapter of his life that might be easier left closed.
