Last Stop for Paul

Last Stop for Paul

It's a tough call as to which is better: Last Stop for Paul, or the way Last Stop for Paul was made. The reviews and awards speak for themselves, but what you probably don't know is the story behind the story, which is nothing short of amazing. In the spring of 2005, veteran writer, producer, director Neil Mandt and cinematographer Marc Carter set out on an around the world journey to film the story about two guys traveling to the famous Full Moon Party in Thailand. All they had was one camera, two wireless microphones, three batteries, and a rough story outline. They traveled without a crew, a cast or having scouted one location; all of this was to be done on the fly.

There weren't any casting calls along the way, just strangers picked up on the street to either act in a scene or hold the camera as Neil and Marc delivered their improvised lines. The outcome has proven to be a smart, funny and poignant story about world travel. The experience of making
Last Stop For Paul was like none other in the history of Hollywood . No cast, no crew, no script, great result. See for yourself.

“It's an eye-opening ride and a totally enriching experience.” (Eric Campos, Film Threat)

Last Stop for Paul chronicles the adventures of two friends who travel around the world to scatter the ashes of their recently deceased friend. As they travel from country to country they meet a myriad of interesting characters and have the adventure of a lifetime. Mandt and Cinematographer Marc Carter, also one of the film’s co-stars, shot Last Stop for Paul in more than 20 countries over the space of one month. The film was made without the benefit of a crew, a location scout, professional actors or even permits.

The unprecedented theatrical release of Last Stop for Paul answers the biggest question everyone in the world of Internet content production has, “How can money be made from producing an Internet web series?” “This project was designed from day one to work as an Internet series that would have a creative and financial payday at the box office. An interesting little movie is still an interesting little movie—it matters more when you also have a big Internet series. They're going to work together—they have to," he predicted for film and the Internet. "If you don't think that way, you're dead," said Mandt

Last Stop for Paul was produced by Neil Mandt and his business partner and brother Michael. Five years ago they formed a production company and since then have built their own post production facility in Hollywood as well as a full service HD television studio in Orange County where they Executive Produce ESPN’s successful daily talk show, Jim Rome is Burning. Additionally, the brothers Mandt have executive produced ESPN’s first reality show Beg, Borrow and Deal, as well as E! Entertainment’s My Crazy Life and the new Sci Fi Channel adventure series, Destination Truth. Between the two of them, they have won 4 Emmy® Awards. Neil’s credits also include directing the feature films Hijacking Hollywood, Arthur’s Quest and Million Dollar Kid.
