IFF- Hope I'm in the Frame / Large Soldier

HOPE I'M IN THE FRAME (57 min)
An aged film director is trying to make a new film. She struggles to find the support to get her project of the ground. This director is Michal Bat-Adam- the first female film director in Israel- who dared to try, and ultimately succeeded to break into the closed militaristic, chauvinist film industry in Israel during the 1970s.

Hope I’m in the Frame follows Bat-Adam’s shooting of her new low-budget film and intimately documents her and her husband, the Oscar winning film director Moshe Mizrahi, sharing the struggle to make films despite the establishment’s rejection.

The film, raises questions about art, aging, love, partnership and compassion.

LARGE SOLDIER (22min)
It’s 1973 and Sherry is a 15 year old girl with red curly hair who lives in Israel. All that she wants is a boyfriend. Her country at war, Sherry decides to volunteer- folding army uniforms. When she touches the manly uniforms, she is struck by an idea- she’ll put her name and address in one of the pockets, a solider will find it, he’ll write her, and she’ll have a solider–boyfriend. A letter arrives! Sherry is thrilled. She starts exchanging letters with Shaul. His letters are not exactly written with passion, but Sherry is happy. She offers to meet up, and they set a date. Sherry waits for Shaul in the street. A soldier passes by. Is that him?
