A Classy Broad

From director Anne Goursaud comes the amazing story of the woman who broke through corporate Hollywood’s glass ceiling in A CLASSY BROAD: MARCIA'S ADVENTURES IN HOLLYWOOD. The trailblazing executive’s story is told mainly in her own fiery voice, At a time when the issue of gender inequality is at the forefront in Hollywood, Marcia Nasatir’s story is one fueled by reservoirs of feminism and movie palace intrigue. Director Anne Goursaud, known for her editing work in Francis Ford Coppola’s One from The Heart, The Outsiders and Bram Stoker’s Dracula, walks viewers through how Marcia’s passion for storytelling led her to work in publishing and ultimately out west in film, eventually becoming VP of Production at United Artists, an achievement no other woman before her had ever accomplished. Nasatir’s legendary career as an executive began in 1970s when she was recruited by Mike Medavoy at UA as story editor, a position she negotiated into a VP title, paving the way for women to achieve this executive status quo in a male-dominated industry. While there, Nasatir championed Rocky, Carrie, Apocalypse Now, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. She later joined Johnny Carson's production company and fought to produce The Big Chill, which garnered three Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Glenn Close) and Best Screenplay. As Marcia Nasatir Productions, she independently produced the Vietnam drama Hamburger Hill and Ironweed starring Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. Now 93 years old, Marcia is an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and serves on the Foreign Language Film Award Executive Committee. Her story, entertaining as it is inspiring, will hopefully motivate a whole new generation of corporate-destined women who refuse to be hindered by the status quo.
