P.S. Jerusalem

Filmmaker Danae Elon began to film her young sons the minute she and husband Philip decided to leave New York and go home to Jerusalem. Her father — Israeli author Amos Elon — had just died and she decided to return home to Jerusalem, where she grew up and her father had written about. Amos Elon was one of Israel’s leading intellectuals and writers. He left the country in 2002 disillusioned with the place he had dedicated his entire life to writing about. His daughter decides against his last wishes to go back. Through the prism of family, she documents her sons encountering a different place, of extremes and violence. In this portrait of their lives as they grow, she illustrates in a poetic and personal way the reality of what the polarization of political reality can do to a beloved place. Post Script Jerusalem presents us with a universal portrait of the pain that happens, as a beloved city becomes a place of polarized hatreds. It is a portrait of Israel and Israeli society, from the inside out.
