Elvis Costello Detour
As a songwriter, [Costello’s] ability to conjure period as much as emotion is what commands a show like this.

Elvis Costello Detour
In a little over 100 minutes in front of a home town crowd, Elvis Costello, performer and songwriter extraordinaire, takes you on a musical journey through his vast songbook.
It’s a show like no other, set in a 1960s style living room with an oversized television broadcasting never-seen-before family photographs and portraits of his personal heroes from Gloria Grahame to Arthur Askey.
Detour Live At Liverpool Philharmonic Hall presents Costello up front and personal. Moving between guitars and piano he digs deep into his catalogue. Breakthrough songs like ‘Watching The Detectives’ sit alongside rarities such as ‘45,’ and the first release recording of Costello's setting of Bob Dylan's emotive lyric, ‘Down On The Bottom.’ Elvis is also joined by his special guests Rebecca and Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe for a barnstorming rendition of ‘Pads, Paws and Claws,’ a song co-written with Paul McCartney.
In between songs Costello treats the audience to stories about his family and the origins of his music and traveling life.
It’s spontaneously entertaining, acerbically witty, slapstick funny and at times challengingly intimate. Expect the unexpected as you revel in this faithfully shot and recorded film of Elvis Costello: Detour Live At Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
