Howard Zinn: You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train

HOWARD ZINN: YOU CAN'T BE NEUTRAL ON A MOVING TRAIN documents the life and times of the historian, activist and author of the best selling classic A People’s History of the United States. Featuring rare archival materials, interviews with Howard Zinn as well as colleagues and friends including Noam Chomsky, Marian Wright Edelman, Daniel Ellsberg, Tom Hayden and Alice Walker, YOU CAN'T BE NEUTRAL captures the essence of this activist and thinker who has been a catalyst for progressive change for more than 60 years. As Noam Chomsky said of him, “it is no exaggeration to say he has changed the consciousness of a generation.”

Activist/author/California state senator Tom Hayden, a longtime friend and colleague of Zinn's, will conduct a Q&A following the 7:20 screening at the Music Hall on October 16.

"It's an excellent introduction to a man whose thoughts on war, peace and dissent have become increasingly influential in ever more confusing times."
-- Ken Fox, TV GUIDE'S

"Mr. Zinn delivers a challenge when he says, 'To be neutral and to be passive is to collaborate with whatever is going on.' Democracy he defines as 'not just a counting-up of votes' but a 'counting-up of actions.'" -- Stephen Holden, The New York Times
