The 8th Annual Claremont Film Festival is scheduled Thursday May 5th to Sunday May 8th. Formerly known as the Claremont 5 Second Film Festival, the event is held at the Claremont Laemmle Theatre.

The curated show features award winning films from throughout the world. Feature length offerings are included.

The festival begins with Silent Film Night on Thursday May 5th. The Buster Keaton classic The General with be shown along with live accompaniment!

Friday May 6th is entitled Spotlight on Music which will feature the musical documentary The Wrecking Crew. This is the story of the unsung studio musicians in the 1960s who played on hits for the Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny and Cher, Jan & Dean, The Monkees, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Mamas and Papas, Tijuana Brass, Ricky Nelson, Johnny Rivers and were Phil Spector's Wall of Sound.

Saturday May 7th will include the screening of documentaries in the afternoon followed by the evening show of the finest short films from around the globe.

The Friday and Saturday evening shows will conclude with receptions at Le Pain Quotidien.

The festival is produced by the Claremont Community College, a volunteer group dedicated to providing remarkable social, cultural and educational programs. The group also provides musical support to deserving children. A year ago the organization distributed 100 guitars to local kids.
