Desperately Seeking Susan follows Roberta (Rosanna Arquette), a dissatisfied housewife in New Jersey who is fascinated by the personal ads in a New York tabloid and the character of Susan (Madonna), who seems to be leading the adventurous life that Roberta only dreams about. Eventually she meets Susan and her bohemian entourage, and they swap roles, changing both of them through their unlikely friendship.
