At 2 years old, Luke Nuttall's pancreas suddenly stopped producing insulin. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Since then, he has endured over 8,000 blood glucose tests and over 4,000 shots. There is currently no cure or way to prevent this disease.
Enter Jedi. Jedi is Luke's Diabetic Alert Dog and sidekick in his battle against Type 1. “Luke & Jedi” explores the world of Diabetic Alert Dogs - what they do, how they’re trained, how effective they really are. This film depicts daily life with Type 1 Diabetes, and stresses the need for a cure. All in all, there’s a lot more to this story than just a boy and his dog.
