Aeris
Aeris, from filmmakers Aly Miller and Paul Castro Jr., is both a heartbreaking and heartwarming 30-minute narrative short film adapted from their feature-length screenplay 12 Days. "A young couple struggling to hold things together finds love again in a baby kitten from a pet store they name Aeris." Things take a turn when Aeris is diagnosed with FIP - Feline infectious peritonitis, an untreatable and incurable disease. The film hopes to serve as a portrait of their experiences purchasing a kitten from a pet store and the horrors of backyard breeding. This is part of Aeris’ legacy, as is the kitten the couple subsequently adopted, and who starred in the film.
