Waiting for Guffman

"A Madcap Gem" - Entertainment Weekly. Our CTG series continues at the Playhouse 7 with the classic mockumentary, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN. This time the acclaimed Spinal Tap crew, led by CHRISTOPHER GUEST (co-writer/director/lead) comes to Blaine, Missouri to create the definitive parody of the small town stage. Community theater director Corky St. Claire (Guest) hopes to reclaim past glory by staging the musical "Red, White and Blaine" to commemorate the town's sesquicentennial. He assembles Blaine's "best" talent in the form of married travel agents (Fred Willard & Catherine O'Hara), a Dairy Queen clerk (Parker Posey) and scores of others. With the prospect of major New York producer in the audience, could Corky and his quirky crew be headed for Broadway? Called "a sly and gleeful comedy" (Kenneth Turan), "priceless" (Peter Travers), and "one of the funniest movies ever made" (Betty Joe Tucker), Waiting for Guffman delights both critics and audiences alike.
