The director Oliver Stone takes a parting shot at George W. Bush with a biographical fantasy starring Josh Brolin as the 43rd president of the United States, James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn as his parents, Elizabeth Banks as his wife, and Richard Dreyfuss (Dick Cheney), Thandie Newton (Condoleezza Rice), Ioan Gruffudd (Tony Blair), Scott Glenn (Donald Rumsfield), Toby Jones (Karl Rove), Rob Corddry (Ari Fleischer) and Jeffrey Wright (Colin L. Powell).

“A bold but imperfect film about a most imperfect man...gutsy...it deserves a fair hearing by American audiences, for Stone goes out of his way to give Bush a fair hearing...Brolin is pitch perfect in our president's manners and speech. Brolin doesn't look that much like him, but he creates a memorable character that may not be W., but has vitality in both his certitude and confusion. The same goes for Cromwell, who isn't so insistent at mimicking the 41st president as catching his patient, patrician nature. Dreyfuss is scary good as a Machiavellian Cheney. Wright's Powell and Toby Jones's Karl Rove are dead-on.” (Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter)
