Undertow
Undertow
David Gordon Green's (GEORGE WASHINGTON, ALL THE REAL GIRLS) ultra-stylized drama UNDERTOW follows two young brothers (including Jamie Bell of BILLY ELLIOTT) in the deep south on the run from their convict uncle (Josh Lucas). Green describes the film as similar to "a boys' adventure novel of the '50s -- I wanted the poster to be [someone] holding a lantern and pointing at the staircase."
"Seething with violence, bleeding with lyricism, it's a poem from the junk heap, a cry from the swamp, another night for another hunter." -- Michael Wilmington, CHICAGO TRIBUNE
"The young director David Gordon Green's first film with a conventional plot is a moody gothic thriller drenched in myth and superstition." -- Stephen Holden, THE NEW YORK TIMES
"There's no arguing the revelation of Bell's performance." -- Lisa Rose, NEWARK STAR-LEDGER
