Just In!
The July 6 screening of Underground Orange at the Royal will be followed by an in-person discussion hosted by filmmaker Darren Stein (Jawbreaker, G.B.F.) with writer-director-star Michael Taylor Jackson.
Underground Orange
In exploring the fluidity of his own identity, Jackson finds fluidity in film form, creating a personal, exuberant, and radical first feature.
Underground Orange
A self-identified "genre-fluid" film, in UNDERGROUND ORANGE Michael Taylor Jackson plays a Californian backpacker who becomes entangled in a polyamorous relationship with a gang of young actors who plot to kidnap the U.S. ambassador to Argentina. The film explores dichotomies as they appear in politics, identity, and queerness, blending tones, mashing up genre beats, and infusing the everyday with imagination, balancing thoughtfulness and humor with a cheeky cleverness all its own.
