The Tiger Who Came to Tea
'The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ is the story of a mysterious tiger who turns up unannounced at young Sophie’s house and invites himself in for afternoon tea. Mummy and Sophie watch in fascination as the tiger, with his insatiable appetite, proceeds to eat not only their tea, but also their supper, the contents of the fridge and everything in the larder! Sophie takes absolute delight in the chaos the tiger brings, while mummy can only wonder what the tiger will eat next.
Sophie loves their unexpected guest and thinks how wonderful it would be to have the tiger to stay. She daydreams about taking him to school, going on holiday together, and letting him sleep on the end of her bed. However, having eaten his fill, the tiger leaves as abruptly as he arrived. Daddy returns home from work to find that the tiger has eaten all the food and drunk all the drink in the house and left a terrible mess!
To Sophie’s delight, Daddy decides that they should go out for supper instead. On the way to their local cafe, Sophie excitedly tells him all about her adventures with the tiger. The next day, when Mummy and Sophie come home from the shops, Sophie brings out a huge tin of tiger food... just in case the tiger comes to tea again.
