The Tainted Veil

Whether a veil of the soul, the mind or the body, the layers of the veil in history and the many meanings behind it will be revealed. "Women are either judged for wearing the hijab [head scarf] or for not wearing it." In THE TAINTED VEIL the challenges surrounding these ideas are exposed in a debate by diverse people and extraordinary stories.

THE TAINTED VEIL is a collaboration between veteran documentary filmmakers Ovidio Salazar, Nahla Alfahad and Mazen Al Khayrat. Generally, in religious and secular societies, it is a simple issue and a matter of choice to wear the hijab. THE TAINTED VEIL voices arguments and deep rooted errors in thought and practice and the many reasons behind what make the hijab a controversial topic all over the world.
