Stage Beauty
In the gorgeous STAGE BEAUTY Billy Crudup stars as Ned, a 17th-century actor renowned for playing female roles; his evocations of Ophelia, Desdemona and Juliet are so convincing they leave people checking under Ned's skirts after performances. When Charles II (Rupert Everett) allows women on stage, an aspiring actress (Claire Danes) who happens to be obsessed with Ned, jumps at the chance. The filmmaker is Richard Eyre, director of Iris.
