The 2016 SEEfest concludes with five deeply emotional yet uplifting stories about children who overcome life’s odds with humor, strong will, and a good measure of boxing. Talented newcomers Skovran, Kusijanović and Magidson treat the material with great compassion and plenty of nuanced humor, complemented by one-two punch of their slightly older and more established fellow filmmakers, Pavlović and Sitaru. Family Bonds delivers a terrific portrait of childhood and adolescence rarely seen in such intimate, gutsy detail.
