Saving Grace B. Jones
SAVING GRACE B. JONES is an independent feature written, produced, and directed by Connie Stevens. The film recently won three major awards at the New York City International Film Festival, winning Best Feature Drama, Best Actress for Tatum O’Neal and Best Supporting Actress for Penelope Ann Miller. Previously it was honored by the Philadelphia Film Festival/Cinefest, the St. Louis International Film Festival and it won the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival Best Motion Picture award. Filming took place in the town of Boonville, Missouri where the true incidents depicted in the film and experienced by writer/director Connie Stevens as a young girl transpired in the period following World War II.
A young girl, having experienced a dreadful trauma, is sent to spend a peaceful summer in a quiet Missouri town with friends of her father’s, Bea and Landy Bretthorse (Penelope Ann Miller and Michael Biehn). The gracious couple and the placid town seem the perfect antidote to her violent experience. But things take a dramatic turn when Landy determines to obtain the release of his sister, Grace (Tatum O’Neal), from a notoriously oppressive mental asylum, where she has resided since her violent breakdown years before, and the once peaceful family suddenly finds itself in mortal danger.
