Savage Grace
Tom Kalin, whose 1992 Swoon was one of the founding films of what came to be known as the New Queer Cinema, returns after a long absence with the sensational story of the Baekeland clan of England. The grandson of the inventor of the plastic Bakelite, young Tony Baekeland (Eddie Redmayne) is smothered by his social-climbing mother (Julianne Moore) -- whose demands turn dangerously sexual. With Stephen Dillane.
"Director Tom Kalin is a huge talent, and working from a script that Howard Rodman carved out of a book by Natalie Robins and Steven M.L. Aronson, he uses dark humor and artful style to pull you into a tale of the rich abusing their privileges." (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone)
