Samoan Wedding
This New Zealand box office record breaking hit film stars Oscar Kightley, Robbie Magasiva, Shimpal Lelisi and Iaheto Ah Hi (all members of the popular Auckland-based Naked Samoans comedy theatre group). An urban romantic comedy that brings the humor, life and color of Polynesian culture to the big screen, SAMOAN WEDDING follows a group of four thirty-something buddies notorious in their local community for their audacious stunts at local weddings. When the community gets fed up with these childish antics, the local minister (Nathaniel Lees) takes a stand and presents them with an ultimatum: act like an adult and find a respectable date for an upcoming wedding, or don’t even think of showing up, thus forcing the four unpredictable pranksters on a quest to find a suitable partner. Each one faces his own particular challenge in finding the perfect woman. Albert (Oscar Kightley) is painfully shy, while Michael (Robbie Magasiva) is hampered by his insatiable appetite for Caucasian women. Stanley (Iaheto Ah Hi) relies on phone chat lines as his only connection to the opposite sex and, although Sefa (Shimpal Lelisi) is the only member of the group to have an actual girlfriend, Leilani (Teuila Blakely), his relationship is on the rocks due to his unruly behavior. What they all thought would be an easy feat, turns out to be a hilarious rollercoaster ride of uncertainty that has the whole community in an uproar.
