Quest for Honor

The alarming rise in “honor killing,” the heinous act of men killing daughters, sisters and wives who threaten “family honor,” endangers tens of thousands of women in Iraq, Turkey, Jordan and adjoining countries. The Women’s Media Center of Suleymaniyah, Iraq, has joined forces with Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government (the KRG) to eradicate this practice. QUEST FOR HONOR follows Kurdish activists, journalists, lawmen, and members of the Kurdistan Regional Government; as they all work to solve the murder of a widowed young mother, protect the victim of a safe-house shooting, redefine honor, and STOP THE KILLINGS!

Directed by first time filmmaker Mary Ann Smothers Bruni, QUEST FOR HONOR had its world premiere at 2009 Sundance Film Festival and has since played festivals and screenings around the world including in Iraq and will premiere in Jordan in 2011.
