Namoo
Namoo
An animated short film from Oscar®-nominated Erick Oh (Opera), Namoo was inspired by the passing of Oh’s grandfather and follows the beautiful and heartbreaking moments of one man’s remarkable life, from birth to death. Namoo -- which translates to “tree” in Korean -- marks writer/director Oh’s most personal work to date.
The hand-painted film explores life’s complex journey of mortality, fulfillment and, ultimately, acceptance.
An animator at Pixar Animation Studios from 2010 to 2016, Oh’s films have won numerous awards and honors including a 2020 Oscar® nomination for Best Animated Short (Opera). Among multiple other acknowledgements, Oh has been recognized for excellence in animation and direction by the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the Annie Awards and Anima Mundi.
