Mona Lisa is the acclaimed British neo-noir crime drama about an ex-convict who becomes entangled in the dangerous life of a high-class call girl. It stars Bob Hoskins and Michael Caine, with co-stars Cathy Tyson and Robbie Coltrane ("Cracker" and "Nuns on the Run"). The film was co-written and directed by Neil Jordan and a key film on his path to directing "The Crying Game," "Interview with the Vampire" and "Michael Collins." The film was nominated for multiple awards - and Bob Hoskins was nominated for several awards for his performance (including the Academy Award for Best Actor), winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama and the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Hoskins plays a tough but basically good-hearted British mob flunky, recently released from prison, where he'd served a term to cover up for his gangster boss (Michael Caine). His post-prison employment lands him in professional and personal turmoil. This role cemented Hoskins' growing reputation as a superb actor.
