Meet the Family
Adapted from the hit dinner show that ran at the Down Town Los Angeles Hyatt, Writer, Director, Producer, Stan Lerner says, “The movie is true to the play.” The dinner show literally took place around a dinner table where guest were actually allowed to buy seats and sit and eat with the cast while they performed the show. Lerner went on to say, “There were a lot of people that thought the movie should go out of the single setting of the Rump Family’s dining room, but I wasn’t one of them. I watched night after night as the play caused people to laugh until they cried and decided that the movie would continue to be about what the Rump’s are saying not doing. The challenge of course was to make a movie audience feel like they were sitting at the table and with the help of Academy Award Winning Editor Scott Conrad, I think the movie accomplishes that goal to an extent that I barely dared to dream of.”
