Littlerock
A sleepy-eyed exurb of Los Angeles as seen through the eyes of two young Japanese tourists, stranded with a broken rental car. One wants to leave as soon as possible, but the other finds the town and the machinations within to be not only fascinating, but perhaps a better example of what America really is than the large cities they’ve been visiting between, and finds it increasingly hard to leave. The excitement of the new permeates every frame of this intimate evocation of a small town in Southern California where everyone’s talking but no one really understands.

“Atsuko the character doesn't speak English; Atsuko the actress, speaking mostly un-subtitled Japanese when she speaks at all, gives a performance that's a marvel of nonverbal reaction.” (Karina Longworth, L.A. Weekly)
