La Vie en Rose
A astonishing Marion Cotillard, winner of the Best Actress Oscar for this role, plays France’s most famous torch singer, Edith Piaf, in a bio-pic directed by Olivier Dahan (La Vie Promise) The solid supporting cast includes Sylvie Testud, Pascal Greggory, Emmanuelle Seigner and Gerard Depardieu.
“Marion Cotillard’s feral portrait of the French singer Édith Piaf as a captive wild animal hurling herself at the bars of her cage is the most astonishing immersion of one performer into the body and soul of another I’ve ever encountered in a film. Her portrayal of Piaf, plucked from the streets of Paris and molded into a music hall legend, ignites Olivier Dahan’s screen biography.” (Stephen Holden, New York Times)
“For Piaf fans, LA VIE EN ROSE is a must-see. For Piaf fans yet-to-be, Dahan and Cotillard's extraordinary film is an opportunity rich with discovery.” (Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer)
