Klezmer on Fish Street
A Jewish grandmother and Holocaust survivor returns with her granddaughter's klezmer band to Poland, where they take a musical tour retracing the steps of their ancestors. Along the way they experience some tension between Polish people, who divide themselves as Jewish and non-Jewish.
"Cause for celebration... A kaleidoscopic exploration of a new and paradoxical development." (The Forward)
"Heartbreaking... In spite of the sadness, with rollicking klezmer music permeating every scene, the general impression is upbeat. Filmmaker Strom arranged the music, which is wonderful, and he even plays the violin on some of the numbers. A man of many talents, not the least of which is the making of Jewish documentaries." (Jewish weekly)
"KLEZMER ON FISH STREET is one of the best movies I've seen in a while." (San Francisco Bay Guardian)
