grace lee project

The grace lee project

When filmmaker Grace Lee discovered that her name was the most common given to Asian-American women, she decided to track down people in America (and beyond) who shared her moniker. Trying to discover if there were any common bonds between all of the Grace Lee's, Lee conducted internet surveys and interviews with her subjects, and turned the results into this fascinating film, which suggests that there is a definite communal experience shared by all the Grace Lee's in the world. "A breezy first-person video essay that goes in search of the average Asian-American woman, all the while wondering if there is in fact such a thing." (Village Voice) "Funny and insightful." (New York Daily News)
