God and Gays: Bridging the Gap

An intimate look into the struggle of reconciling sexuality and spirituality by getting into the head, heart and lives of the people who have found homosexuality and the Bible as their self-defining identity. The film wrestles with the issues of being Gay in a right wing Christian world through the eyes and experiences of people wanting a relationship with the very religion that rejects them. In every age there is a group of people misunderstood and mistreated simply because of who they are, God & Gays puts the face and heartbeat of humanity into this emotionally-charged issue and answers whether it’s possible to be gay and religious or if persecution shall continue.

 Bruce Newman
 San Jose Mercury News

“God and Gays” is powerful and attitude-altering and is the cornerstone of new awareness of the diversity in the LGBT community and the issues within that are so troubling. Socially and politically rousing, I recommend this film… It could save your life, a loved one or familial relationships.”
 Benjamin Mee
 OutinAmerica.com
“A heart-wrenching and yet unifying feature documentary…”.
 Out & About Nashville
“Overall though it is a powerful message delivered well.”
 FilmStalker.com
“…illuminates the history of religious intolerance for movie audiences. The Christian Bible has been used to support slavery, racism and other forms of injustice, Johnson shows. Homophobia is just the latest form of church-sanctioned discrimination…”
 Marc Breindel
 Planet Out.com
“God & Gays is an important film in how it acknowledges ignorance without an outright pedantic attack on religion. Its exploration and understanding of the judgment encountered by homosexuals who happened to be raised Christian is beautifully balanced and promotes a share of intelligence far more productive than simply verbally assaulting a once-loved community.”
 Rachel Gordon
 Filmcritic.com
“this documentary will likely be a welcome source of support for many gays who struggle with being Christian.”
 Malinda Lo, AfterEllen.com
