Past Run
Girl 27
In 1937 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the most prestigious and powerful movie studio in the world, tricked 120 underage dancers into attending a stag party for its salesmen. Patricia Douglas was raped trying to escape. Instead of heeding studio advice and staying silent, she went public and filed a landmark lawsuit that reached the Supreme Court. The resulting scandal and studio cover-up and smear campaign drove Douglas into hiding. Now, 65 years later, Patricia Douglas emerges to tell her story in this Sundance documentary. “GIRL 27 is about the moral hypocrisy of Hollywood as well as a testament to the lingering damage inflicted by rape."
