Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead

Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke play brothers who rob the jewelry store that belongs to their parents, with results even more disastrous than one might anticipate. Directed by master filmmaker Sidney Lumet (Kate Hepburn’s Long Day’s Journey, Dog Day Afternoon, Network, The Verdict, etc.). With Albert Finney and Marisa Tomei.

A 2008 Independent Spirit Award nominee for Best First Screenplay and Supporting Female Actor (Tomei).

“Exhilarating.” (A.O. Scott, New York Times)

“The wrenching tale has something for anyone who likes their melodrama spiked with palpable tension and genuine suspense.” (Lisa Nesselson, Variety)
