Cruising

Reviled by gay activists at the time of its release, William Friedkin's crime thriller has since been championed by some critics (while others still find it despicable). Al Pacino stars as a cop who goes undercover to investigate a string of murders in New York's leather community, only to find himself losing his moorings in this subculture of rough sexuality. A fascinating snapshot of a long-gone, pre-AIDS sexual underground.
