Back Door Channels
Land. Oil. God.
The Middle East has been at the center of violence and upheaval for millennia. The carnage and conflict know no end.
September 17, 1978. For one brief moment in time, Arabs and Jews laid down their arms and embraced peace.
In the public eye, the power brokers of this peace were titans of their time: Menachem Begin, Anwar El-Sadat and Jimmy Carter.
But there was a parallel story taking place behind behind the scenes -- a story of power and access, dangerous liaisons and men putting their reputations and careers at risk.
This is the back-story of how the Camp David Peace Accords came to be. It was a peace process that was anything but peaceful. The Camp David Treaty was made by men who risked everything, even their
lives.
They made history but history would never know their names.
They operated in the shadows, through Back Door Channels.
These men were spies for peace and this is their story.
