American Hardcore

Inspired by Steven Blush's book "American Hardcore: A Tribal History," this documentary is a chronicle of the underground hardcore punk years from 1979 to 1986. Interviews and rare live footage from artists such as Black Flag, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, SS Decontrol and the Dead Kennedys. The filmmaker’s “montage is a frenzied, propulsive pull from here and there -- including not just an astonishing array of milky VHS concert footage (Black Flag in 1981!), but both Ronald Reagan inaugurations, the second of which seems to foretell the end.” (Village Voice)
