An Affair of Love

Nominated for the Golden Lion at the 1999 Venice Film Festival, FrÈdÈric Fonteyne's AN AFFAIR OF LOVE (UNE LIAISON PORNOGRAPHIQUE in France) stars the great French actress Nathalie Baye and Sergi Lopez as Parisians who initiate an anonymous, weekly, purely sexual, hotel-bound affair with a personals ad. Baye's performance won her the Venice Film Festival's Volpi Prize for Best Actress. Strikingly intelligent, formally innovative, and subtly erotic, the film offers a refreshing twist on conventional romantic films with its portrait of two mature, experienced adults seeking nothing more than simple sexual gratification
