The Fourth Noble Truth

In “The Fourth Noble Truth,” Harry Hamlin plays Aaron Redmond, an A-list movie star whose life is spinning out of control. Not only has the womanizing actor just been busted for drunk driving, but he was recently found guilty of road rage. Fortunately, Aaron’s lawyer knows the sentencing judge is a big fan of meditation instructor Rachel Brock (Kristen Kerr) because of the help she once provided him. So now, the highly skeptical Aaron must see Rachel to impress the judge.

In their sessions together, the spiritual Rachel’s intent on teaching the resistant Aaron the elements of the Buddha’s “Four Noble Truths.” But Aaron’s agenda is quite different, and he uses every bit of his talent, intense charm, and power to try and seduce her. Surprisingly, it turns out that despite all of Rachel’s experience and resolve, she’s not immune to Aaron’s charisma, and her romantic feelings threaten everything she’s trying to accomplish. The question is - can she really help him?

Using a unique storytelling device, the film plays out in eight chapters, during which Aaron and Rachel trade in insightful wisdoms while challenging one another’s life philosophies. In each, they purposefully or inadvertently show us one element of the Buddha’s Eight-Fold Path, which
is “The Fourth Noble Truth.”
“The Fourth Noble Truth” won the Audience Award at the Sonoma International Film Festival and is now an official selection at the Cinema at the Edge Film Festival.
