A Wonderful Cloud

A WONDERFUL CLOUD is a new kind of romantic comedy from Eugene Kotlyarenko that pushes the boundaries between fact and fiction. Casting himself and his real-life ex, Kate Lyn Sheil (HOUSE OF CARDS, THE COMEDY) as a pair of exes who remained friends, he explores the emotions of an authentic post-breakup dynamic through a fictional on-screen framework. Using an improv style that has been compared to the work of John Cassavetes and Mike Leigh, the film comes off as lively, fresh and raucously funny.

When Katelyn (Kate Lyn Sheil) travels to Los Angeles in hopes of wresting control of a clothing company from her ex, Eugene (Eugene Kotlyarenko), she quickly realizes he has more than just business in mind. Unable to deny their emotional past, the pair spend the weekend trying to determine once and for all whether they have a future in store. Set in an LA full of eccentrics, this raw romantic comedy finds a former off-screen couple energetically playing out their real-world baggage in front of the camera, for laughs and tears. According to Variety, "Those seeking a raucous, wholly improvised 21st-century ‘Annie Hall’ need look no further." A WONDERFUL CLOUD made its world premiere at SXSW 2015.

"The chemistry between the two stars creates an infectious excitement that energized me for hours after it ended." -Tina Poppy, Filmmaker Magazine

"It's that no-holds-barred approach to letting it all hang out that lends his sophomore feature its zany energy and bruised heart." -Nigel Smith, Indiewire
