Somewhere in Time

A 35th Anniversary Screening of SOMEWHERE IN TIME (1980)
Tuesday, December 15, at 7:30 PM at the Royal Theatre

Jane Seymour and the late Christopher Reeve star in Jeannot Szwarc’s heady romantic drama about a contemporary playwright who becomes obsessed with a 1912 photograph of a beautiful stage actress and finds a way to travel back in time to meet her. Noted fantasy writer Richard Matheson adapted the screenplay from his own novel,
Bid Time Return. Variety said of the two stars, “Christopher Reeve is smashing in his first film outing since Superman…Seymour is lovely and mesmerizing enough to justify Reeve’s grand romantic obsession with her.” Christopher Plummer and Teresa Wright co-star. The film is also notable for Jean-Pierre Dorleac’s Oscar-nominated costumes and John Barry’s hypnotic score. Although the film was not a box office success on its initial release, subsequent TV showings turned it into a cult favorite, and revival screenings drew large crowds. Now enjoy the opportunity to see it again on the big screen.

After the screening, take part in our Q&A with the movie’s star, Jane Seymour, and director Jeannot Szwarc. Seymour, an Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress, is best known for her iconic TV role as Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. She also appeared in the James Bond movie
Live and Let Die, in the memorable TV miniseries East of Eden and War and Remembrance, and in recent comedies Wedding Crashers and Austenland. Jeannot Szwarc directed Jaws 2 and Supergirl on the big screen, along with many popular TV series and movies for television.
