IFF- FAREWELL, HERR SCHWARZ
Michla and Feiv'ke Schwarz, sister and brother, didn’t reunite in Lodz in 1945 like they had promised to do. She migrated to Israel and founded a started a family; while he returned to Germany, changed his name, married a German woman and lived in the camp where he was once a prisoner. Their decisions haunt their children, who struggle to deal with their parents' silence; and their grandchildren who are forced to question their own identity. Two families, in Germany and Israel, unaware of each other for years, are strangely mirrored and suggest a new explanation of our urge to hold onto stories.
