Viva La Liberta

Haunting, surprising in its humor and beautifully served by the twin performances of Servillo.

Viva La Liberta

Enrico Oliveri (the brilliant Toni Servillo, European Best Actor award winner for The Great Beauty) is a seasoned politician who realizes that the decline of his party is inevitable. One night, he disappears, fleeing to Paris and finding peace in the home of his ex-girlfriend Danielle (Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi) while creating a panic within the party. His top aide (Valerio Mastandrea) and his wife decide to contact his twin brother, Giovanni, a genius philosopher suffering from bi-polar disorder and living in a psychiatric institution. The three of them concoct a dangerous plan and what at first seems like a crazy scheme soon proves to be their only solution. A scathing critique of Italian political dynamics, Roberto Andò’s film is also a pulsating thriller with great comic moments that brings together some of the most talented actors working in Italy today.
