Dennis Hopper as Nick Twain, a big-time Hollywood producer whose latest flop of a film has been rejected by every film festival in the world is determined to get a Best Picture Award somewhere and use the publicity to acquire distribution.
Nick bribes his way into the O'hi Film Festival, held in the small town of O'hi at their local high school, hosted by the town's undertaker. When Nick and his reluctant stars descend on the town, Hollywood egos collide with small town politics and by the time the award for Best Picture is announced, long-held secrets have been revealed, unexpected romances ignited and the town's big mystery solved.
