Film Summary Bob Byington’s hilariously deadpan comedy for the cell phone generation takes place in Austin, Texas, where a voluble young lyricist named Harmony refuses to let go of the heartbreak caused when Jessica, his girlfriend, breaks up with him. In a series of loosely improvised and very funny episodes, Harmony riffs on life and love with his friends, colleagues, and family, while fighting to win back his girl. Starring musician Justin Rice (MUTUAL APPRECIATION, lead singer of Bishop Allen) as the motor-mouthed Harmony and Kevin Corrigan (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) as his sidekick Carlos, Byington’s film presents a heartfelt portrait of a bright guy and his unsympathetic buddies dealing with heartache.
HARMONY AND ME received an Annenberg Fellowship from the Sundance Institute in 2008. The film World Premiered as the only US World Premier at the prestigious 2009 New Directors/New Films Festival, played the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Los Angeles Film Festival and won the Audience Award at the Starz Denver Film Festival. In addition, Byington was recently awarded the Stanley Kubrick Award for “Bold and Innovative Filmmaking” at the Traverse City Film Festival.
