Film Summary
Laemmle Theatres and IRH Press Co., Ltd. are pleased to present a new Japanese animated film, THE GOLDEN LAWS. This spiritual adventure film is based on a best-selling book of the same name and tells the story of a 15-year-old boy and girl who travel beyond time and space over thousands of years in a time machine.

The story takes place in "New Atlantis" in the twenty-fifth century. A teenage boy, Satoru, is visited by a girl of the same age, Alisa, who travels from the 30th century in a time machine. Satoru and Alisa begin their journey to Japan in the twenty-first century when the teachings of The Golden Laws were revealed. But because of a mechanical problem with the machine, they journey through ancient Greece, Egypt, India, Israel and China meeting the people and spiritual leaders living in each age. What they witness through the journey is a grand drama of human history. The breathtaking visual effects on display in THE GOLDEN LAWS were developed by Colorado FX , the creators of X-Men, Spider-Man and The Lord of the Rings. The animation was created by top Japanese animators including Takeaki Ishiyama (Sakura Taisen), Isamu Imakake (Lupin the Third - Dead or Alive), Masami Suda (Gatchaman, Hokuto No Ken "Fist of North Star"), Keizo Shimizu (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu "Legend of the Galactic Heroes"), Yukiyoshi Hane (Kiki's Delivery Service, Kaze no Tani no Naushika "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind,"), Marisuke Eguchi (Street Fighter, Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru "Night on the Galactic Railroad"). Ryuho Okawa, executive producer and the author of THE GOLDEN LAWS, is the founder and spiritual leader of the Institute for Research in Human Happiness (IRH). THE GOLDEN LAWS opened in theaters in Japan on October 11, 2003, and became top movie in the box office ranking for two consecutive weeks, and remained in the top five for the rest of the period.
