Film Summary THE GIRL FROM MONACO (LA FILLE DE MONACO), directed by Anne Fontaine and starring Fabrice Luchini, Roschdy Zem and the stunning and talented newcomer Louise Bourgoin was selected as part of Lincoln Center’s Rendez-Vous with French Cinema in New York and was recently featured in the City of Lights City of Angels (COLCOA) French film festival in Los Angeles.
In this comic thriller, Bourgoin stars as Audrey, an ambitious, sexy and ultimately deadly, weather girl on one of Monaco’s TV stations, who has no intention of reciting weather reports for much longer. Bourgoin (a former real-life weather girl on French television) earned a César (French Academy Award) nomination for Best Female Newcomer for her performance. Renowned French actor Fabrice Luchini (MOLIÈRE, INTIMATE STRANGERS) plays a brilliant and neurotic attorney, who falls under the spell of this “she-devil” and looks to his bodyguard (Roschdy Zem - nominated for a César for Best Supporting Actor) to bail him out of the mess he’s created.
With THE GIRL FROM MONACO, Anne Fontaine (NATHALIE, DRY CLEANING, HOW I KILLED MY FATHER), one of France’s most renowned writer-directors, affirms her mastery as an intrepid explorer of the seamier side of desire.
