Thre fun-loving ex-G.I.'s meet for a reunion ten years after V-J Day. the place is Tim's Bar in New York City. By this time, Ted is the manager of a two-bit fighter; Doug is a successful TV cartoonist; and Angie runs a roadside diner.
They meet Jackie through Doug and then are introduced to Madeline, who has her own television program. The two girls decide to sensationalize the reunion by making it commercial-- without telling the boys. They bring off their plan, but not without some wild complications. The ex-G.I.'s find themselves dancing and singing their way down Third Avenue Three World War II buddies reunite ten years after the war and find they have nothing in common. Directed by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly and scripted by the team of Comden and Green, the film is fairly unique in the musical tradition for its dark and somber tone.
