"La Nouvelle Vague"

97 Mins | Rialto | 1964
BAND OF OUTSIDERS
Shot in 25 days for $120,000 in early 1964, Godard's seventh feature offered a striking contrast to his previous film, the high-priced and star-studded Contempt. Like Shoot the Piano Player, A Band of Outsiders takes its story from an American pulp novel, and it has the same kind of light-on-its-feet quality as Truffaut's second feature. An inspiration to influential American filmmakers like Hal Hartley and Quentin Tarantino, the latter even named his production company after it.
